I grew up in a little town where everyone knows each other! No one ever worried about locking the doors to their houses, sheds or cars.
There were no problems over locks or not.
Now that I am a homeowner in this same town, things have significantly switched. There was a series of break-ins where homes were robbed while I was in the center of the afternoon. The robbers kicked in front doors and ran through the home, taking whatever things were truly available; My house was a single one of those that was targeted. It was easily upsetting to come back to the house to the door hanging wide open and apparent signs of theft. I lost a lot of my jewelry, a CD player, iPad and some cash. They also ransacked the shed and stole a wonderful deal of our tools, including our cordless drill and a very overpriced table saw. After that, I was seriously uncomfortable in our home, so replacing the locks on the doors wasn’t enough to alleviate our fears. I ended up installing a complete home security system. Because the proposal is wireless, there was no mess or remodeling required. It works through an app on our smartphone, allowing me access to all of the features from virtually anywhere. I get alerts and can truly check up on the outdoor cameras, vacancy sensors and door locks. If anyone tries to get into the house, they have a few seconds to press in the proper code or an alarm sounds and the security company contacts the proper authorities. Because of the security system, I once again feel comfortable in our own home.
