A job is the type of thing that you do in order to make cash and pay your taxes, but a career is a job you are fully invested in, as an area of your life, and you base your future goals and dreams around it.
And then you have what is called the side hustle, a job you do besides your official job for extra cash, oftentimes a side hustle is related to a hobby, meaning there is little to no paper trail and you just job “gigs” much appreciate how a musician might.
Thanks to the quarantine I no longer have to work forty hours a day, however our side hustle is more fancy than ever. A couple of years ago I almost became an Heating and A/C contractor for a local business, however it just didn’t pan out. They hired myself and others on to jobs as an assistant to an Heating and A/C tech, so I could get on the job training while I studied for the certification test. It turns out I was not able to pass the Heating and A/C certification test, so the business fired me. I moved on with my life, however periodically I would do some minor Heating and A/C job for friends or family, and that is how it became our side hustle, however now that all of us are safe at home, many Heating and A/C companies are just as locked down as everyone else and won’t repair anything. Suddenly our skill set with Heating and A/C repairs, as limited as it may be, has become incredibly fancy and I’m getting calls each day! I know I’m not as skilled as a real Heating and A/C tech however times are tough and I’m going to take advantage!
