Did you ever pay for something and realize it wasn’t what you thought it was? Sure, we all have.
You know, those deals that seem like they are the best in the world but turn out to be the exact opposite. This happened to me just last year when I hired someone to clean my ductwork at my home. I had just bought it and wanted to remove all the old junk from the lines from the previous owners. Having my own germs and dust in there was enough without any that came from complete strangers. I was excited when I found a guy that offered the services for half the cost of the other dealers so I signed a contract with him. The day of the appointment he was two hours late and when he was in the house he kept tracking dirt all over. I tried to tell myself that it was worth having to clean up later because I was saving money. When he finally finished the job he handed me the invoice and it had several unexpected fees. He said that he found “extra” problems that he didn’t know he would encounter. The funny thing was that he never came to get me and show me what he was talking about. I had no way of verifying anything and had no choice but to pay him. When I turned on the air conditioner afterward my house was instantly filled with a cloud of dust. I really wish I had checked his credentials better because I would definitely have hired someone else.
