As all places of worship are not classified as essential services for the time being, it gives all of our regional mosques an opportunity to make the building improvements that we feel will keep our worshippers and guests safe and healthy during this difficult time.
Early research indicates that the virus can spread in the air to an extent that makes it extremely contagious.
As our mosques of course want to remain safe for all of our worshippers we need to take special care, because of course we have worshippers of all ages, from the very young to the very old. The virus seems to target the elderly to a further extent than the young, but we must remember that this is a novel disease, so it is nothing if not unpredictable. The truth is we do not know how deadly it is for any individual from any age group. We should go on the assumption that it is deadly for any age group. We are working to secure funds for major air quality overhauls for all of our mosques in the region. We plan to install HEPA filters, UV air filters and other air quality systems to all of our buildings. As some of our worshippers are actually owners of a commercial HVAC company we are lucky. This group will be getting in touch with all mosques individually to offer their services. If any individual mosque who is in touch with other religious organizations who also need these air quality upgrades but are seeking certified HVAC professionals, please let them know that we will try and help them as far as we can too.
