When I’m feeling sick, the last thing I want to do is be around other people.
Even if I’m not actually contagious, I hate the idea of spreading my symptoms to others and I become hyper aware of what I’m doing.
If I feel it’s necessary, I will keep myself at home for the day, just so I don’t spread any unwanted bacteria or viruses. It irritates me when other people I work with don’t do the same. There’s nothing worse than being stuck in a small office with poor air ventilation, which only makes the spread of airborne illnesses spread faster. This is especially true when you work in an office where the HVAC system is neglected. During our last work meeting, I took it upon myself to bring up the lack of HVAC maintenance, because I was really determined to stop the spread of airborne illnesses. With spring right around the corner, I knew everyone would be coughing and sneezing, so I wanted our air quality to be the best that it could be. I started off the meeting by stating that we needed to get a certified HVAC technician out to service the neglected HVAC equipment. He would get our system up to date and also replace the air filter. Everything would be cleaned and sanitized, so the air in our office would be clean and free of airborne illnesses. Thankfully, enough people agreed to have the HVAC equipment serviced, and a certified HVAC technician will be out next week!
