I followed my father’s footsteps, and instead of going to college, I went into trade school. My father went to a criminal justice trade school, however I wanted to do something different. I wanted to go to HVAC school, and so I did. It took me less than 2 years to become a certified HVAC technician, and since heating and cooling techs are always in high demand, I landed a job less than one month after graduating. The first few years of being a heating and air conditioning professional were very successful for me, so much so that word began to spread around in my small town, and a lot of my friends started expecting me to help them. I didn’t mind helping them, but I told them that I would only help them if I was in the mood to, and if I wasn’t they would have to go through my HVAC company and schedule an appointment. My parents jumped on this bandwagon, and also started needing help with their A/C and furnace, which I found interesting since before they never got HVAC maintenance or HVAC tune ups to begin with. They were probably just taking advantage of the freebies. But I can’t blame them, and it is good that they are finally showing interest in their A/C and heater for once, otherwise it might break and they will be stuck with a hefty HVAC bill. So I go and I help my parents with their HVAC issues as well. I really don’t mind helping my family and friends out every now and then.
