When I first thought about getting into the HVAC industry, I thought it sounded like a wonderful career. The thing is, I’m a bit of an introvert and I have a hard time talking to people for too long. I thought this job would be perfect for me because I wouldn’t have to deal with people too much. For the most part, I figured I would just be working on the heating and cooling equipment and people would leave me alone for the most part. Well, it seems I don’t always get so lucky when I go to people’s homes for HVAC repairs. I often get people who want to stick around and watch me work. I don’t want to be rude and tell people to let me work in peace, but I wish I could tell them that. I have people asking me questions all the time, and it honestly stresses me out. Recently though, I started talking to the boss at the HVAC company about getting me into the commercial HVAC repairs and maintenance. He said that was pretty challenging stuff, but he would be happy to help me out. I got in with a good trainer for commercial heating and cooling repair and I actually love this work way more than the residential stuff. I find that with these commercial systems, the people are not overly concerned and don’t want to ask so many questions. They are not staring at me while I’m working and I don’t have people asking me questions all day. The work is more challenging for sure, but I love it way more!
