My friend is a teacher and told me that they were replacing the HVAC system at the school she works at next week.
The building is very old and it is the same building where I went to highschool. With this in mind, I started thinking about how it was always so cold in the classrooms when we were in school. She told me that the classrooms are not cold anymore and that the air conditioner in half of the building stopped working a long time ago. Luckily, she was in one of the classrooms with an air conditioner. I wondered how this was going to work. It was the middle of the school year and replacing an entire HVAC system in a large building could take a lot of time. I wondered if they would have the kids take a few days off from school so that they could quickly and safely replace the HVAC system in the building. Some of the parents would be upset that they would have to take time off work to care for their kids in the middle of the week, if this were the case. I thought about how excited I would be if they told us that we would have to take a few days off from school in order to replace the HVAC system. When I learned that they had to close the school for a week, I knew that had to be a tough time for the teachers and parents. The HVAC system took much longer than they originally thought it would!
