After 25 years of doing business, the company that Blake worked for chose to invest money in the future of the business.The Partners employed a Business Development Manager to guide the company to the next level.
The company is part of the construction industry and because it’s family-owned, the Partners weren’t open to change.
However, after a competitor went through a successful rebranding of their company, the owners of Blake’s company saw it fit to follow suit. Before hiring the Business Development Manager, the company had a Marketing and Social Media person. But that position did nothing to provide useful strategies to the company, nor did it create partnerships or bring about modern markets for its products and services. However, within months of hiring the Business Development Manager, the company had modern merch, modern company logo, newly wrapped vehicles, a better website, and won modern contracts in a completely odd market. The results were immediate, and the Partners regret not taking this action earlier. Sometimes it is safer to do things the same way without taking risks. Of course, we have all been there, where we are safer in our comfort zones. Blake supposes the Partners of his company felt safe with their space in the industry, so they hesitated on exploring modern options. However, hiring the Business Development Manager has taught them to take more risks because the company is now winning and executing contracts with major companies that it was not exposed to before. Of course, this means more income and actually the Partners are ecstatic with that. Hiring the Business Development Manager was one of the best things they did for the company after 25 years.
