I have to say, this new HVAC technology really did make more of an impact on our household than I thought was possible.

My dad was even wild about it. But that was also when it first came out and dad can be a bit wild about new gadgets. For me, I’ve been burned by things that were the latest trend for like six months. And then 500 bucks later, I’m stuck with an obsolete piece of equipment that ends up taking up space because I can’t ditch it. That’s not a game I like to play. So unlike my Pops, I’m much more interested in second or third generation technologies. But I have to admit that I waited too long when it came to putting in the smart thermostat. My wife finally just called the HVAC company and had an HVAC technician install a smart thermostat she had purchased. The results were immediate as far as savings. That very first month, while it was still learning our patterns, we saved just over 10 percent. After that, it’s been at least 15 percent savings over the previous year month after month. On top of that, I love the fact that this HVAC technology simply takes care of the heating and cooling. The smart thermostat certainly has been a big plus for our family. My dad even came over as soon as he heard that the HVAC professionals had installed a smart thermostat. He was totally jealous because there are more features on our smart thermostat app than on his. Go figure.
