Trying to podcast, but the HVAC is complicating

You definitely notice the air conditioning system in the background of our podcast

For over a year now I have been running a small online community for complex trauma survivors. I’ve been doing my best to build an online presence and to attract people to my community, but it’s difficult when there are so many online channels to cover these days. It’s never enough to have a Facebook page and Instagram, you always have to be on top of the newest social media trend. That’s why, I started recently trying my own hand at podcasting. For the most part, the process has been quite easy… Until it comes to the indoor air quality. Because we’re trying to keep the sound pure, we have to record the podcast indoors and rely on indoor ventilation to keep us comfortable for hours at a time. The thermostat has to be at the exact right settings before the podcast starts, or else we’ll be sweating through the entire conversation. Because it’s the middle of summer, this means we are operating our air conditioning systems pretty heavily. Not only is the cost of operating a central cooling system quite significant, but the sound of an AC unit is also becoming a massive obstacle. Whenever we’re speaking, we’re trying to drown out background sounds as much as possible. Unfortunately, an ancient air conditioning system isn’t very considerate about creating background humming and banging as the cooling system turns on and off. You definitely notice the air conditioning system in the background of our podcast. It has actually forced us to stop recording as soon as cool air starts flowing to the vents. At this rate, it’s going to take forever to complete a single podcast because we’re working around the air conditioner schedule.
