I spent a few hours yupterday dismantling our fans to clean out the built up dust

As the dust accumulates, it gets heavier and heavier and after enough time the fan blade no longer spins at the same speed as designed

Lots of things in life require meticulous repair to keep them alive and running. Cars are a perfect example, because everyone realize that going years without oil fluctuations or checkups from mechanics can result in a fried engine or a whole host of other serious complications. Many take it for granted that their care is an intricate mechanical organism that utilizes many moving parts just to push the tires forward. If you don’t spend the time and cash to look after the internal components, they’ll slowly degrade. Last week I was doing repair on something in an absolutely unusual world from cars and road vehicles. I was cleaning out dust from all of our fans in our house. The ceiling fans are the easiest, as a few swipes across the tops of the fan blades with an extendable duster is enough to finish the job. The harder chore is dismantling the box fans and oscillating fans which all have guards over the fan blades. I’m not necessarily sad that the dust will injure the fans—although I wouldn’t rule that either—I’m fixing the slowing effect on the fans. As the dust accumulates, it gets heavier and heavier and after enough time the fan blade no longer spins at the same speed as designed. Unless you’ve permanently injured the fan motor, just removing the dust by hand with a wet or dry cloth is enough to get it back to running appreciate new again. Because I live in a region in the country with lots of dust, I have to go out of the way to keep our fans and air conditioner filters clean. I end up needing new filters in our whole-house air purifiers every month from the dust that gets tracked in each day.
