I’m not accustomed to the heat and humidity the way my husband is.

And I’ve struggled with that fact since we moved down here.

We actually met up north while attending the same university. When we got married, we ended up with jobs in the north so he had to get used to winters with a gas furnace. That was so hard on him and I really did wish I could help him. Over the course of a decade, he finally got to where he might be able to last at a sporting event or maybe going skiing. Other than that, he wasn’t much interested in leaving the cozy, heating comfort from the HVAC equipment. Now that we are living near where he grew up, the heating and cooling shoe is on the other foot, if you will. I just haven’t been able to come to terms with the heat and humidity of summer. Of course, the rest of the year is like heaven. But those four months of summer are brutal and I need all the air conditioning I can get. And that’s a bit of a problem because we try our best to now overuse the air conditioning. It’s very similar to what my husband experienced up north. The more he stayed inside the HVAC heating, the worse the cold seemed. The same is now true for me as I find if I don’t get acclimated to the heat a bit in the spring and just stay in the HVAC cooling, the summer is oppressive. Plus, keeping the thermostat too low just runs our electric bill through the roof.

Things are still a bit new to me when it comes to this whole adulting scene.

• I’m 29 and have just purchased my first starter home.

It’s not all that much but it’s for sure mine. I just like the idea that I’m not paying rent any longer. I’m building equity while also enjoying things like reliable HVAC equipment with updated HVAC technology. That’s a far cry from what was happening in apartment life. I really wasn’t too comfortable when it came to quality heating and air in either of my apartments. So having new HVAC equipment and great residential HVAC is awesome. But having a home has offered a learning curve for me as well. I’m seeing that there are things that just have to get done. There isn’t an office to call any longer when something isn’t right. But the big thing is that all the maintenance stuff for the house is on me alone. And if I don’t get that sort of stuff done, then I’m doing a disservice to the investment I’ve made. For sure, I had to put some money into this place to make it livable. So I plan to live here and continue to improve the property until I’m ready to start a family if I get that lucky. Taking care of the investment in HVAC equipment is a priority and really, it’s just logical. Like I said, I see this house not only as my home but more of a medium term investment as well. So, it just made total sense to me to sign up for the HVAC service plan offered by the local HVAC company I use. They come out to do heating maintenance in the fall and follow that up with an air conditioning tune-up in the spring. I’m covered.

I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, although I knew something was wrong with my A/C system.

I live in this condo every day, so it’s self-explanatory for myself and others to notice when something feels different.

The temperature of my condo is fairly consistent each day, which is why I was able to notice something wrong in the first place. If I wasn’t at condo so much, I don’t know I would have noticed concerns until it was far too late. I noticed that some rooms were warmer than others in addition to the air pressure was low coming from the air vents. I didn’t want to self evaluate the problem, so I contacted a nice buddy of mine who happens to be an Heating in addition to Air Conditioning professional. He was able to come to my condo that evening in addition to take a look at my A/C system free of charge. He spent a lot of time walking in in addition to out of my house, trying to find the source of the problem. He agreed that there was a problem, it just took him some time to locate it. Finally, he came back to myself and others in addition to said that my air conditioner was leaking refrigerant. My A/C system was shutting down in addition to short cycling because the refrigerant levels were low. If not addressed quickly, the A/C system could shut down honestly in addition to cause even more concerns. Thankfully, my nice buddy was able to stop the leak in addition to he had my A/C system running correctly before he left. I’m glad I didn’t have to wait for a hired professional to get to my condo because the situation could have gotten much worse.

I had to ensure that at least a single thing was working before moving in, although half of my items were already in the house. The Heating and Air Conditioning serviceman, after his inspection, said he had a lot he needed to tell about the unit, and panic set in after those words; with all the necessary work to make the condo at least habitable, I could not afford to replace the furnace, or at least I thought it was a a single. The Heating and Air Conditioning tech told myself and others the idea was a bit more complicated than he anticipated. The condo had a geo heat pump regulated by a digital control unit. He would need to contact a local beach house services contractor specialist, however from what he had gathered from his inspection, the equipment would need heating service since it had been a while since it had received any heating service. The HVAC duct was in good condition, however since the condo had been uninhabited for a long time, duct sealing would be inevitable; Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that I would own a beach house with my most coveted heating technology system. When my nana said she had the best the heating industry had to offer, I had no idea that this was what she meant. I sent a silent thank you to her.

As if there were not enough things on my to do list, I had to add AC service to the list.

Nobody ever wants to add AC service to their list because it usually means something is wrong.

This is true for my case. I had been meaning to have my AC idea inspected before the summer, although I never got around to it because I was tending to all the other things on my to do list. I rarely spend my savings attention to my AC idea because it’s not something I interact with yearly. My condo is cool because my control equipment settings are programmed and I never have to change the settings unless it’s a scarce occasion. When I realized that my AC idea was making odd noises and the air quality wasn’t as good as it usually is, I was forced to shift my focus. Instead of doing everything else on my to do list, I began working on finding a service for my AC system. The only thing I knew to do was contact the Heating and Air Conditioning contractor about sending someone out. The Heating and Air Conditioning contractor sent an Heating and Air Conditioning professional to my condo within a few afternoons and I explained the concerns I was noticing. The Heating and Air Conditioning professional examined my AC idea in depth and he came back to myself and others with a dirty air filter. According to him, the air filter was long overdue for a replacement and it was causing my AC idea to work harder and less efficiently. The dirty air filter was also the source for the terrible air quality. The Heating and Air Conditioning professional told myself and others that if I hadn’t skipped my tune up in the Spring, I wouldn’t have had this issue.

Hearing the best news from an HVAC tech

In our outdated house, my husband & I had a smart control component that all of us honestly appreciated.

The people I was with and I appreciated the GEO tracking feature, wireless capability, & the ability to make swings to our control component from anywhere at any time.

When all of us sold the home, all of us had to leave the smart control component with the house, but all of us knew that we’d purchase another a single for our new home. It took us a few months to settle in before buying the new smart control unit, but all of us were distraught to install it! My husband installed the previous smart control unit, so all of us thought the process would be the same… Unluckyly, the smart control component wasn’t compatible with our HVAC plan & there was a special attachion that all of us needed to install. This was beyond our capability, so all of us hired a specialist to come install the new smart control component & the additional wire. Unluckyly, after spending over an minute laboring on it, the specialist told us that it wasn’t possible. Our HVAC plan wasn’t comparable & the additional wire wouldn’t help. The specialist told us that the only thing all of us could do was replace the HVAC system. The people I was with and I were severely disappointed, because all of us had been looking forward to our smart control component & now we’d never get to appreciate it in our new house. This was not the news all of us were expecting, so we’re going to get a sixth opinion just to be sure. There has got to be a way for a smart control component to attach, because it just doesn’t seem possible that it wouldn’t.

I’m blissful I trusted his opinion because the ductless mini split component has taken my new sunroom to the next level

I’m someone who enjoys having their own designated toil space, so when I was told to gather my belongings & toil from my own home, I was not cheerful. I got in touch with a company immediately & he told me that it was completely possible. The only recommendation he had was that I install a ductless mini split unit. I didn’t adore the system of spending more cash for the ductless unit, but the company assured me that it was worth it. I’m blissful I trusted his opinion because the ductless mini split component has taken my new sunroom to the next level. I’m able to use the space so much more because it’s temperature controlled, whereas, I would have never used it if the ductless component wasn’t installed. I’m so cheerful with my new toil space.
