He tried to tell me that since he was running the house, he was not responsible for changing air filters and having the air conditioning unit cleaned. Although he may not have been responsible for doing those jobs, I told him he was probably responsible for contacting the owner of the house and telling him that it was time to have the AC unit cleaned or have an air filter changed.

I had never had air conditioning until he moved in with my husband. My parents didn’t have central air conditioning in their home, and we relied on a window air conditioner to keep our bedrooms cool. When I went housekeeping with my first husband, there was no air conditioning in the old farmhouse that he owned. We had a window air conditioner in our bedroom and one in the 14 daughters. After I split from my ex-husband, I took five years to myself. My daughters and I had a small apartment where there was no air conditioning, and we were not allowed to have window air conditioners. The air was so cool and comfortable that I couldn’t help but to just sit down at the dining room chair and relax. He asked if I was feeling alright, and I told him I was just overwhelmed with the air conditioning. When I told him that I had never had air conditioning, he chuckled. He told me to just sit and relax in my newfound air conditioning while he made dinner for me. Six weeks later I married him.He still teases me that the only reason I married him was for his air conditioning.

I finally gave up watching, and asked him if there was something I could help them with. He asked me if I had seen the note. I asked him what the note was and where he had it last, and he interrupted me. Did you find that note or didn’t you, was all he had to say. I was a bit upset about his rudeness, but I was also interested in finding out what was on that note. That’s when he told me that it was a list of everything he had to accomplish that morning and he knew that something on there was important. I asked him what he thought he had put there, and he said it was something to do with the HVAC company. I started the name off all the things he may have been wanting to call the HVAC company four. I asked them if they needed new air filters for the air conditioning or furnace? I then asked him if it may be that he needed to have service on the air conditioning unit? With summer coming up soon, I knew it was about time to have the AC unit serviced, but he shook his head no. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with the furnace, but I also brought that up. He was tired of being questioned about the HVAC system, and just wanted to find a note so he could see what he had written.

Every time I turn around, he is on Amazon, Facebook, or eBay.

The other day I asked him what he was looking for, and he said anything that he could find that was on sale. I was talking to my mom and I told her that I thought he was a shopaholic, and she just laughed. When I got home that afternoon, my husband turned around and said there’s one AC unit on the way. I didn’t even know we needed an AC unit and I couldn’t figure out why he had ordered one. He said he had found the perfect AC unit for our house and it was only $350. Once again, I asked him why we needed a new AC unit since we already had one. He said it was a ductless AC unit, and he was going to install it in our bedroom, and turn off the central air conditioning. I think this was such a great idea, but there was no arguing with my husband. Six weeks later, his $350 air conditioning unit arrived at our door. It was a tiny air conditioning unit and weighed barely 50 pounds. I didn’t know if I wanted to laugh or cry. My husband just stood there and stared. He mumbled it was definitely an air conditioning unit, but it looked like they made it for a children’s playhouse. So, when my brother-in-law called out of the blue and asked for his help, I was shocked when he turned them down.

Our families were very close, and we were always there for each other. I had no idea why he was telling his brother no. After he hung up, I asked if his brother was planning to do something illegal, that he wasn’t willing to help. My husband chuckled and called his brother a dumbed her head. He said that the idiot was planning on replacing the HVAC system, and doing it all by himself. Knowing that none of his brothers were HVAC technicians, I highly doubt they would even be able to do the job. I had no idea why his brother would think that they had the ability to replace an HVAC system without the help of a professional. My husband seemed just as perplexed as I was, and said that is why he told him no. Two days later, his brother called again and said that he was not going to replace the HVAC system on his own. Since no one was willing to help him do the work, he decided to call the HVAC company and have someone come and Replace the HVAC system for him. Although he hated having to pay the HVAC’s technician for his help, it was about to be installed correctly. When my husband showed up to spy on the HVAC Tech and see what he was doing, his brother simply shrugged. He told my husband that he didn’t really want to do it on his own.

The first time I went to my wife’s family house, I was in shock. She had told me her father had a really good job, and her mother owned her own business, but ice still was not prepared for the house I was seeing. I just sat in my car, wondering how anyone could afford to heat this house? Three of my houses could have fit in that home. When my then girlfriend came flying out of the front door, I couldn’t even open my car door. She looked concerned, but then I waved my hand at the house. She chuckled and told me about her dad’s job, and who her mother was, and the business that she owned. I was even more intimidated by meeting her parents, then I was just staring at their home. I was hoping she would tell me that she worked there, and not lived there. When I met her father, I couldn’t help but blurt out about his ability to heat and cool this huge house. He nodded and smiled at me. Then he told me that my saying about the heat and AC, reminded him that his daughter had told him I was an HVAC technician. He said that it’s a good thing they had the jobs they had, or there was no way he would be able to heat and cool this house. He also added that since his future son-in-law was an HVAC technician, at least he wasn’t going to have to pay for the maintenance and repairs that go with the HVAC system. My wife told me that only if we were able to have our own wing in the house, would I be working on her father’s HVAC system.

It may not be a laughing matter when you see a box in the road, but I laughed.

The box was huge, so I went around.

When I saw the name of an HVAC company on the side of the box, I quickly quit laughing. Instead, I pulled my car over, and went to inspect the box. It was really heavy, but I was able to push the box over to the side of the road. At least no one was going to be able to wreck their car, if they happen to decide to try to crush it underneath the tires. I looked up the name of the HVAC company on my phone, and gave them a call. Told them exactly where I was located and said there was a heavy box that I pushed out the side of the road, and that is how I found the HVAC company. They asked me if I had time to stick around there until they could send an HVAC technician to my location, and I agreed to stay. Fifteen minutes later, an HVAC service van showed up at my location. He carefully peel a small piece of the box away and was shocked to see a furnace inside. I helped him to load the furnace into the van that he had brought along, and headed on home. Later that evening, when I was watching the news, they were showing a truck that had a load of furnaces. Apparently somehow, he had lost a furnace off the truck. It all sounded a bit sketchy to me, but no one asked my opinion.
