I was really touched by the picture my daughter drew at school. The kids were asked to draw the thing they loved doing most at home. My daughter drew a picture of us changing the air filter for the HVAC system. This is something we have been doing together every month and it’s one of her favorite things for sure. She always asks tons of questions about how the HVAC system works. She became interested when she was young, but she was afraid of the HVAC system at first. She thought there was some kind of monster inside the ductwork system. I explained to her how the HVAC worked and showed her how to even use the thermostat. She would always ask to come with me when I was going to change the air filter, and I even showed her how to do it. So basically, we take turns swapping out the air filter because we both love doing this job. She knows how important the job is to keep up with the air filter changes and other crucial HVAC tune-ups. She understands that professionals have to come out to take care of that, even though she asked me why we couldn’t do it long ago. I suppose we could if we went to an HVAC trade school, but not if we didn’t do something like that. I think she’s actually interested in going to a trade school to be HVAC certified. That would be something because she would be teaching me a thing or two about HVAC repairs and maintenance techniques.

I never realized how bad of a spider problem we had in our house until I started running into webs all the time. The one time when I went to the basement to change the air filter for the HVAC, I ran straight into a huge spider web. Luckily no spider landed on me, but I hate running into webs. It’s no wonder because I hardly ever go to the basement. The only times I go down there is to change the air filter to the HVAC system or put something down there for storage. Suddenly, I was seeing webs and spiders all around and I realized I had to do something about this. I had to use a broom whenever I would go down there just to brush away all the webs that would end up hitting me in the face. So I finally called in a pest control professional who sprayed some kind of special bug killer all around my property and a lot in the basement too where most of the spiders were. I was really happy when I was no longer running into spider webs when I would go down to change the air filter for the HVAC system. The pest control professional just told me to call him up again if I had any more issues with spiders or any other pests. I thought he did a great job and also, the service wasn’t too costly. I would happily call him as many times as I need to keep these pests out of my house. I don’t want the HVAC professional to have to deal with that type of issue either, it’s embarrassing.

He had been studying heating and cooling system repairs ever since we first gave him a window A/C unit. It was a very old one that we kept in storage, but he said he felt overheated in his room. He was so happy when his father hooked up the window A/C unit and saw how it was done. Eventually, the window A/C quit working and we couldn’t afford to buy him another one. He ended up taking the thing apart and he figured out how to fix it to make it work again. It had something to do with the wiring or at least that’s what he told me back then. He knew a lot from early on and when he got into an HVAC trade school, he was easily the top of his class. He actually was able to teach his professors a few things about heating and cooling which they were surprised about. The only sad thing was that he never could find the right girl for him. He always said he was okay, but we knew he just liked to keep busy with his work. Nothing could stop him from working an emergency HVAC shift either. That was until he met this wonderful young lady who also was an HVAC technician. They clicked right away and started spending a lot of time together. He actually quit working emergency HVAC hours just to be with her, and that tells me a lot. We’re so happy for him now that he has found love.
It was just the other day when I decided to go into a thrift store. I didn’t have any idea what I would find, but I ended up finding this really awesome window A/C unit. I never would have thought that I would find a cooling system there, but it said it was tested and it worked. Before I bought it, I managed to convince the people to let me test it out just to be sure so I didn’t have to return it. When I got back to my apartment, I was quick to hook up that little cooling machine in the window. I didn’t have an air conditioner for a long time, I was only using my stationary fan to keep cool. I mean seriously, you can’t beat that kind of deal for an actual cooling machine. When my friends came over, they were shocked that it was so comfortable in my apartment all of a sudden. Before I knew it, everybody wanted to hang out at my place, and I am happy about that. I never could blame anybody for not wanting to hang out at my place before, because even I grew tired of being overheated all the time.

A long time ago, my wife and I were on our way home from a concert and we had some car trouble. I didn’t want to get stuck on the side of the road, so we decided to find a hotel and fix the car problem in the morning. I didn’t want to travel very far, and we only had a couple of hotels that were close. We decided to rent a room from the biggest hotel next to the interstate. The hotel was fairly new with updated features, fixtures, and HVAC units in every room. The lady at the front desk was very kind and she even gave us the name of a couple of different car mechanics that would be able to help us in the morning. She gave us a room on the second floor. We were all the way at the end of the hall. It wasn’t particularly hot that night, so my wife and I planned to sleep without the air conditioner. Unfortunately, we were in the middle of a farming area with lots of cows, pigs, and horses. The smell from the farms was very pungent. We decided to sleep with the air conditioner running so we didn’t have to smell the foul odor from the farms. Even though it was very cold with the air conditioner running, we kept it going all night long. In the morning, we packed up and found a mechanic to help us with the check engine light. I’ll never forget that night as long as the two of us are married.

The in-ground pool was already a feature, but the pool was not heated. My wife loved swimming and she spent nearly every summer day in the pool. She was always very sad when the summer season ended, because she could no longer swim in the cold water. Last winter, I paid a heating company to install a heater on the pool. I had the work completed when my wife went to the spa for the weekend with her friends. When she came home from the spa, she was ecstatic about the new pool heater. She swam in the pool every single day during the first winter that we had the pool heated. This winter, the pool heater only worked for a couple of weeks and then I had to call the company that installed the equipment. Thankfully we had a warranty that paid for all of the repairs and replacement parts. The original pool heater was defective and it needed to be replaced. The warranty covered all of the service repair fees and the installation costs. My wife loves swimming every morning before she goes to work. She gets a lot of exercise, even when it’s cold outdoors. She also enjoys relaxing in the pool at night. I’m really glad that we decided to heat the pool. It really allows us to fully enjoy the backyard, the pool, and our home all of the year.

I learned this information the hard way. My son’s birthday is a couple of days before Christmas. Last year, we decided to have a holiday party and birthday party on the same day. It was a great way to celebrate the winter season. Jack invited a couple of friends and my wife and I invited some of our friends as well. The kids were outside in the garage. They had snacks, drinks, and plenty of entertainment. I gave them a space heater to keep warm. Inside the house, we enjoyed drinks, music, and festivities. About halfway through the night, I noticed the indoor temperatures were getting colder and colder. I didn’t want to worry my wife, so I snuck away and checked the thermostat. It was clear that the furnace was not working when the temperature on the thermostat was 62 degrees. I told my wife that I wanted to talk to her about something in the kitchen and I told her that we were having trouble with a furnace. I immediately suggested we call the heating company. I really didn’t want to pay the emergency weekend fees, but we were in the middle of a party and we didn’t have any choice. Of course, the technician from the heating company didn’t even arrive until most of the guests were already on their way out the front door.

I was happy to pay the $99 fee as long as they could tell me what was wrong with the system. I thought I would be able to save money by doing the work on my own, but a trip to the emergency room would cost a lot more money than $99.
