Keeping a clean house isn’t about being obsessive-compulsive, it’s about being sanitary and orderly.
I learned this from my mother and have stuck with these ideals for my entire life. Living with roommates in college was a learning experience to say the least. It was hard being the only person who was willing to clean a bathroom shared by four different people. That was disgusting, and inevitably I stopped living with friends and peers after failing to cope with that sort of situation. Plus, I was much happier in a one bedroom apartment regardless. I could be the master of my own domain in that sort of environment compared to a shared house with other people utilizing the same common areas as I was. However, living alone can be daunting in other ways, especially when you just want personal companionship. And of course, you are in charge of all maintenance of the home you live in if you are by yourself. I had to learn HVAC maintenance while living on my own. It’s not just about changing air conditioner or furnace filters, but also by keeping the HVAC system clean. I started buying air conditioner cleaning spray to clean my evaporator coils inside of my air conditioner at least once a year. If I clean the A/C coil like this yearly, it prevents any microbial buildup that could lead to problems down the road. This is key to maintaining good indoor air quality. Combine this with frequent filter changes and you can have clean indoor air on a long term basis.
