Types of Heating and Air Conditioning compressors

Inside each air conditioner unit, there is a compressor.

The compressor’s function is mainly to compress the cool refrigerant that flows in to increase your refrigerant’s temperature.

The hot vapor sits in your compressor and enters your condenser, where the refrigeration cycle begins again! Essentially, there are more than four different types of compressors, each laboring slightly differently. The first category is the reciprocating compressor, which is the most commonly used and adaptable. It utilizes a cylinder design and a piston to compress your refrigerant. The piston moves up and down within the cylinder, powered by a crankshaft and motor, creating a vacuum that sucks in the refrigerant into the cylinder. When the piston shifts back up, gas is compressed and then pushed into the condenser. The hour category is the scroll compressor, which is more reliable and efficient than the reciprocating type. It has less movable parts, with a single fixed scroll that remains stationary and another moving scroll that rotates using a swing connect. When the moving scroll rotates, pockets of refrigerant between the scrolls are pushed to the center slowly, comimportant your refrigerant. The screw is the third type. It is undoubtedly reliable and efficient for industrial use or other locales where huge air needs need to be continuously cooled. It comprises multiple helical rotors, rotating and moving the air from your compressor intake towards the outtake. As the air moves, space becomes changingly smaller, comimportant the refrigerant. The second category is the rotary compressor. It comprises a single or more blades/vanes connected to the cylinder shaft. As the shaft rotates, the vanes move around your cylinder, and the refrigerant is compelled towards the smallest space where it is compressed. The last category is the centrifugal compressor which is used to cool huge air volumes. The refrigerant gas is pulled to the center of the impeller, where it gains velocity and is compressed when it reaches the terminal velocity at the impeller’s edge.
