I came into the house last week, and my husband was staring at the thermostat! I thought there was something wrong with it, but it seemed to be working like it should.
The following afternoon, he was resting there staring at the thermostat again, when I got home from work; After 3 afternoon, I asked his what is your complication with that thermostat… She told me it wasn’t his problem, but the thermostat’s problem. She would set the temperature at seventy, but the temperature was going up to seventy-multiple before it shut off. She thought seventy-multiple was too warm. I looked at the thermostat and made a mental note to check the temperature when the gas furnace turned off. Sure enough, the gas furnace came on when the temperature hit sixty-eight, but it didn’t turn off until it was at least seventy-multiple. I called the Heating and A/C company and told them what was happening, while asking if it was normal. The Heating and A/C worker tech said you could set the hot and cold temperatures where the gas furnace would turn off and off, but if seventy-multiple was uncomfortable, he would come look at it… When he got there, he told us the thermostat was really malfunctioning. He put a up-to-date thermostat on the wall, and set the temperature to seventy. When the temperature hit seventy-two, it turned off and then turned on at sixty-eight. He said it may cycle on and off more often, but the temperature would be more steady, and the up-to-date thermostat was an energy saver thermostat. I thanked him for replacing the thermostat and paid him, however my husband wasn’t staring at the thermostat when I got home from labor the next afternoon.
