I always thought that air quality in my home was normal for the house I bought. I was changing air filters every so often, and I had the maintenance done on the heating and air conditioning. I didn’t think anything about my air quality. I was used to seeing the dust in the air and smelling all of the weird odors. Now that I think back, I should have known how bad the air was getting. A friend of mine was an HVAC technician and he came to visit. He wasn’t in the house for two minutes then he was checking out my heating and air conditioning. He told me I needed to change my air filters more often. He also told me that it would behoove me to have a whole-home air purifier installed. I had air filters for both the furnace and the air conditioning unit, but I didn’t have an air purifier. He told me that I really needed one because I had the worst air quality of any home he had ever been in. He told me that no one wants to go into a home where you can tell what I had eaten for the past week. No one wanted to come into a home that had air you could see and taste. He had me thinking about how bad the air was for breathing. I went to town and bought a portable air purifier. I really wanted to know how much of a difference it would make. I was surprised to come home the following day and realize my air smelled better than what was outside. I didn’t have any dust floating in my air anymore. I called my friend after a week and asked if he could install a whole-home air purifier.
