My husband has been thinking a lot about opening a woodworking shop near our house.
He has always loved making things with his hands, but since he’s been in the military for the past twenty years, he hasn’t really had much of a chance to settle down and be all that creative.
The military does not embrace creativity for the most part, as you could probably guess! Anyway, he retired this year and one thing he’s really looking forward to is growing out his beard. The other thing he is looking forward to is opening this woodworking shop so that he can make custom cabinets and furniture. He was doing some research about it, and he has found out that he will have to install a really high quality heating and cooling system in the woodshop because of humidity. When you are working with a material like wood, you have to make sure to keep your temperatures constant and make sure that your indoor air quality is just right. If you have a crappy old heating and cooling system that just doesn’t stand up to the job, then your work could suffer. It would be terrible to work for weeks or even months on a piece and then have it warped and ruined just because you didn’t install the right heating and cooling system or air purifier. He’s working on figuring out what he needs to purchase for the shop and he’s got an appointment with a commercial HVAC business next month to see what they would suggest for him.
