Humidity control is super important part of HVAC

In fact, it starts the cooling process by removing hot air from the house

Each year as our region emerges from the summer, I seem to take stock to acknowledge that feat. Because it is a feat around here. It’s just that hot. So it really nice to have the lower temps and be able to do stuff outside any part of the day. And mercifully, the humidity level lowers a bit as well. Our area gets its fair share fo that wet, hot covering that is the depths of humidity. Our HVAC is running for much of the year. I do my best to make sure the HVAC thermostat is always set relative to the heat outside. Still, the HVAC runs much of the day and the night still. The cool air it provides is wonderful. There nothing quite as nice as coming home from work to have the house nicely cooled and inviting. However, I think I like the lack of humidity in the house as much as I like the cooling. It’s a big part of the HVAC cooling process. But balancing the humidity is not only a comfort thing, it’s a vital process. That means without it, there are serious repercussions to deal with in a home. There are a lot of illnesses cause or exacerbated by the presence of mold & mildew. As the HVAC cooling is running, it isn’t just forcing cooled air into my home. In fact, it starts the cooling process by removing hot air from the house. As the HVAC is extracting and exhausting that warmer air, it is taking a great deal of the humidity with it. That process is what is working to make sure our homes aren’t overrun with mold & mildew.
