It’s really interesting how we go through our lives without paying much attention to how truly great our standard of living is in this country.
But, it’s not hard to lose that perspective when we are rushing all the time in order to try and keep up with our lives.
Personally, I find life to be quite nice when I can work toward an enriched life but with some joy and peace mixed in there. I tend to believe that work is indeed important but so is a minute of peace under the HVAC. Those quiet moments count too. However, reality checks have a way of changing our perspective. A great example of that is when the HVAC goes out for a bit. In our area, the cold winter and the hot summer demand comfort. So, losing HVAC can really be a tough situation. Going through a night where we are sweating through the sheets can be tough. It didn’t take me but a minute to realize that I had taken HVAC comfort completely for granted. I was a near to begging for cool air the next day. When the HVAC guy told me this wasn’t a simple fix, my heart sank. In fact, he suggested that our HVAC was so old, we should just go on and replace it. This was a shock upon a shock. Not only would I have to be replacing the HVAC, I would have to figure out how to get through almost a month of summer without it. That prospect alone was what really made me understand just how easy we actually have it.
