Back when we first met, my husband decided that he was going to quit the job that he was working at and become an HVAC technician instead. Now that we’ve been married about fifteen years, he has also been an HVAC technician for that long. He really enjoys his job most of the time. He sets his own hours for the most part, and usually he doesn’t have to work many nights or weekends. The HVAC technicians at the office take turns working on holidays, so usually he only ends up working one or two holidays per year, so it’s really not that bad. I remember back when he was trying to decide whether or not he should quit his factory position and go back to trade school to learn to be a heating and cooling technician. He was making fairly good money at the time where he was working, but he was looking for a long term career that he would actually enjoy instead of just a nine to five job. I guess that the HVAC industry fulfilled something of that in him, because after he did some research into the HVAC program at the school, he signed right up. The certification course for the HVAC program was rigorous, and he had to do a lot of hands-on training. I remember when he had to shadow a veteran HVAC worker while he was on the job. Ever since then, HVAC service and maintenance has been his passion.
