The new employee isn't a good fit for this shop

I hired an employee last month, but the new employee isn’t a good fit for this shop.

I own a small HVAC repair shop. I worked as a technician for 10 years and then I decided to open a business of my own. I wanted to make my own hours and take vacation anytime I choose. That was one of the biggest reasons why I decided to make the move. My old boss didn’t want to give me time off for vacation in the summer months. That was the only time I had to spend with my wife and my three kids. Year after year, I dealt with the issue. Last year, I finally said enough is enough. My kids are getting older and I don’t want to miss out on the memories. I spent three months working both jobs and then I finally quit altogether. Now I have my own HVAC repair business and things are busier than I expected. I kept a ton of clients from my previous job including three commercial accounts that were happy to make the change. A couple of weeks ago, I put in an ad in the newspaper. I’m looking for a couple of new HVAC technicians to work for the company. I hired an employee last month, but the new employee isn’t a good fit for this shop. The young guy is obnoxious and he doesn’t take criticism very well. He’s smart, but he still has a lot to learn about HVAC repairs and installation. He is not a great fit and I need someone that I can trust. I really want an employee that is looking for a career and not just a job.
