How does your HVAC system affect your sleep?

Getting a good night’s rest allows you to rejuvenate your mind and body.

Your HVAC system can affect your sleep quality in various ways.

It can also prevent you from sleeping soundly. A faulty HVAC system can fail to maintain a consistent indoor temperature, which is essential for a night of quality sleep. Even though people tend to sleep better in cooler temperatures, finding your ideal temperature for sleep is necessary. Still, even with the ideal temperature setting, your faulty HVAC system may be unable to maintain your desired temperature consistently, making it difficult for you to fall asleep or remain asleep. Improper humidity levels due to an incorrectly sized or old HVAC system may prevent you from getting a good night’s sleep. When your home is too humid, there is a chance that you will turn and toss on the bed throughout the night due to the stuffy and sticky conditions. On the other hand, if your humidity levels are too low, you might feel dry and itchy. Poor indoor air quality is also an HVAC-related problem that can lower your quality of sleep. When your system parts such as your filter get clogged with dirt, pollen, dust, pet dander, and other contaminants, your HVAC system will circulate them in your indoor air. Breathing in these contaminants can make you more susceptible to symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, sore throat, runny nose, headache, and eye irritation. You are likely to have a hard time sleeping if you are suffering from any of these symptoms. Noise from loud HVAC systems can also deprive you of your beauty sleep.
