My Grandmother lives outside the city in the county.
It is a very rural area.
I go out to see her once every month. Every time I visit, I try to get her to come home and live with me. But, she is a stubborn and proud woman and she’s fought all my efforts and insists on living on her own. My Grandfather built the condo she lives in, and all of us all care about the home! It’s such an appealing log cabin surrounded by woodland. The only issue is the place she lives is too isolated, and grandmother isn’t getting any younger, so all of us worry about her safety. Three years ago, before Grandfather passed away, he set up a gas furnace in the house. It was a better way to heat the apartment while in Wintertime than using logs. Up until his death, it was regularly working perfectly fine. But our only concern was that no HVAC professional had inspected the system since it first was installed. One day, while at work, I felt apprehensive and had a bad feeling. I went to visit Grandmother. She welcomed me, and then I decided to spend the night. I brought along a CO detector and just wanted to check out the cabin at night. I left it by the new indoor furnace and went to sleep. At around 1 am, I woke up to a loud beeping noise. The detector had confirmed our suspicions about the oil furnace. I ran and swung open all the windows to let in lots of fresh air. Grandmother was awake plus safe within a few minutes. I told her we needed to be safe and call in an HVAC business to come and repair the furnace. After making a cellphone call the following afternoon, an A/C expert came and set up a CO detector next to the gas furnace. Also, he evaluated the whole equipment and made numerous repairs to prevent any more incidents. Grandmother was lucky I had come to the condo that night. I was so happy she was okay.
