Our kids were quite annoyed with our sudden decision to move from the city.
We had found a lovely cabin in such a good location.
But, we knew it would take time for them to like the place as much as we did. The decision had been made when we realized we no longer had to live in the congested city for work. We had 100% remote jobs meaning we could live and work anywhere we wanted so long as we had an internet connection and electricity. As we were researching the right place to move to, a friend sent us information about the cabin. We went out to see it and loved everything about the area. The cabin was a little expensive, so we would need to buy it and relocate. We put down a downpayment which the owner accepted, and began working on a few upgrades. For instance, he had an oil furnace to keep the cabin warm during the long winter months. But, we wanted a better and more efficient heating system, so we opted to get rid of the oil furnace. In its place, we were planning on getting a heat pump. This was a good way to heat and cool the house, depending on the season. The only issue was heat pumps were quite expensive, so we had to save for a few months to afford one. Eventually, we did manage to save enough money to buy and pay for heat pump installation plus a radiant floor system in the cabin. After that, the next step was to work on a bit of the interior before moving in the coming summer.
