We were only allowed to change the thermostats in our rooms
Growing up, there were many kids in the house, then apart from my 2 siblings and sisters, there were also more than two cousins residing with us. After their parents passed away, they moved in with us, we were all like siblings! This was obvious in our never ending fights and quarrels, it used to drive our parents crazy, especially during summer. At one time, the fights over the temperature control became so intense that we exchanged blows! Needless to say, we were all grounded and punished. Mom and dad also banned us from touching the thermostat until they came up with a lasting solution. Dad called a heating and cooling worker to the home to service the cooling unit. As she was working, she spoke to him about the situation in the house, and she came up with a solution. The heating and cooling worker explained that mom and dad could get heating and cooling zoning! We’d have separate thermostats in each of our rooms. This meant we could each set it the way we wanted and not interfere with the rest of the house. Dad was so glad after he learned about heating and cooling zoning since he knew we had to stop fighting. It took a day for the HVAC crew to come in and set up HVAC zoning in the house. After that, our parents sat us down and set some new rules about the main thermostat in the house. No one apart from them was permitted to touch it. We were only allowed to change the thermostats in our rooms. Things calmed down in the house, and we got along that summer, however as siblings, we knew we had always quarreled about something.
