My grandpa wasn’t happy living on his own.
I could see this every time I went to visit him. He tried his best to convince me he was okay, but I saw the sorrow in his eyes. After my nana passed away, not much else gave him joy apart from my visits. He was getting old, so I started thinking of how to take better care of him. I had always planned to buy a house at some point, but I knew it was the right time to do so. I’d convince grandpa to come and live with me. At first, he gave me all sorts of excuses, but eventually, he agreed since he was lonely living alone. We put the farm on the market and moved his things into my house. There was a separate annex in the property, which became grandpa’s home. One afternoon, I was busy at work when I got a call from him. He’d felt cold, so he tried turning on the heating system in the house. But, there was no warm air blowing from the unit. The best thing to do was contact a heating system repair company to send a specialist to the house. The specialist came by the next day and determined a few faulty parts needed immediate repair. The heating system specialist fixed the unit and advised me to start planning to get a new electric furnace. It was a better and more energy-efficient option that would lower my energy costs and not break down so much.
