I got a rebate on some HVAC equipment for my attic

When my husband’s father died, I was the first one to invite his mother to come live with us.

She’s as sweet as an angel and I knew I could build a large house in the attic where he would be comfortable while still having some privacy.

On top of that, a single of my best friends is a building contractor and helped me and the rest at a discounted rate. He told himself and others that it’s pressing to approach a job like this correctly. You can’t choke off your entire house with zero air ventilation, as that’s the purpose of an attic in the first site. So instead of fully insulating it, both of us built walls and vaulted ceilings slightly offset from the attic structure so air could still ventilate underneath the vaulted rooftop. Surprisingly, there was enough area up there for a studio dining room suite with a huge family room and bathroom. All of this required additional plumbing and electrical wires, but both of us also had to figure out a solution for heating and cooling. At first I pondered if both of us should just get a window a/c and an area furnace and call it an afternoon, but then I found a good rebate deal on a ductless mini split. After replacement, I mailed in the rebate form and got $400 back that both of us used for other building costs related to the attic apartment. I pray that my mother-in-law enjoys his new attic house and is comfortable up there. If we’re fortunate, the ductless mini split Heating and Air Conditioning plan will perform well. It sure beats out a window a/c and an area heater.
