Last week we had a couple of days when the temperatures were only thirty overnight.
I thought it might snow, but the weather was clear and windy.
It was moist outside and the cold temperatures are even more frigid when the air is wet and filled with humidity. I didn’t plan to use the furnace until December, and I wasn’t going to turn it on for a few days now unless it was necessary. My wife and I found a space heater in the garage. I thought the space heater would be a great backup on days when the temperatures were too cold for the furnace alone. I set up the space heater in our bedroom, on the side of the room where my wife sleeps. I placed the heater on a chair, so it would be at the same level as our bed. The space heater has a temperature control dial on the top. I set the temperature control dial to 68°. As soon as the temperature started to drop, I heard the space heater kick on. It was a little louder than I remembered, but the space heater got rid of the cool, chilly air in a matter of moments. The space heater helped a great deal during those few days when we had lower than average temperatures. The nighttime temperatures are back up to the 50s this week and there is no need for the space heater. Still, it was nice to have the machine so we didn’t have to turn on the furnace a month earlier than usual.
