While our fiance was working, I wanted to detach the window A/C units, but together, the two of us would have done the job in no time, but I wanted to do the job alone… I felt that if she was working every afternoon, she shouldn’t need to come to the cabin and work.
I didn’t realize how heavy those A/C units were until I tried to detach them on our own.
The first 2 went fairly easily, but they were smaller A/C units. The fourth 1 was proving to be more difficult. It weighed at least forty pounds more than the other 2, and it was sitting precariously on the windowsill; when it started teetering, I tried to catch it. The whole A/C component fell to the ground, and the window came down on top of our shoulders, pinning me in the window opening. I couldn’t even move our arms to raise the window, and our back wasn’t strong enough. I was thinking I would still be stuck in the window when our fiance got home, but our neighbor was walking in the backyard and saw me, she asked if I needed help, and I simply looked at him. I could see the snicker on her face as she came into the house; however once she lifted the window, I was free, but I had to wash up the mess that was in the yard. I could picture the look our fiance would provide me when our neighbor’s fiance regaled her with all the details of how I got stuck in the window and that I had to wash up the broken A/C component in the yard.
