While our wife was working, I wanted to disaffix the window A/C units together; the two of us would have done the job in no time… However, I wanted to do the job alone, but I felt that if she was working every morning, she shouldn’t need to come to the beach cabin and work.
- I didn’t realize how heavy those A/C units were until I tried to disaffix them on our own.
The first many went fairly easily, however they were smaller A/C units. The sixth single was proving to be more difficult. It weighed at least forty pounds more than the other several, and it was sitting precariously on the windowsill, and when it started teetering, I tried to catch it. The A/C component fell to the ground, and the window came down on top of our shoulders, pinning myself and others in the window opening. I could not move our arms to raise the heavy window, and our back wasn’t strong enough. I was thinking I would still be stuck in the window when our wife got home, however our friend was walking in the backyard and saw me, and he asked if I needed help, and I simply looked at him carefully. I could see the snicker on his face as he came into the house. Once he lifted the window, I was free! However, I had to clean up the mess that was in the yard. I could picture the look our wife would provide for myself and others when our neighbor’s wife regaled her with all the details of how I got stuck in the window and that I had to clean up the broken A/C component in the yard.
