My wife and I were sitting in the kitchen having breakfast this morning, when the power went out suddenly.
- We didn’t have any idea why the power was out.
I checked the fuses and the breakers in the electrical box. They seemed to be fine. I went outside to see if the neighbor was in the front yard. My neighbor was not working in the front yard, but I knocked on the door to see if he had power. The neighbor is always home. The guy has been retired for the past 10 years. Jack answered the door and the first thing that he said was there is no power. He confirmed what I was going to ask in the next sentence. Jack told me that he saw some crews working in the front of the neighborhood when he came back from the grocery store. The electrical contractors probably turned off the power because they were working on the transformer near the front of the neighborhood. I took my bicycle out to the street so I could see what was going on. Sure enough, there was a crew of electrical contractors working on their transformer. I stopped one of the guys and asked if the power was going to be out for a long time. The contractor did not have a time for me. The guy wasn’t sure if it was going to be a couple of hours or the rest of the day. Apparently there was a serious problem with the Transformer and they were trying to fix the issue before the entire neighborhood and half of the city block lost power.
