The HVAC technician intimated it could take all day.

I called the HVAC company two days ago to have some minor repairs done to my furnace.

  • I didn’t mind waiting when they gave me an appointment that was more than 2 days away.

It gave me time to talk to my employer and let him know I was going to be late. The HVAC appointment was for the first thing in the morning. I thought I could easily be there by lunchtime. When the HVAC technician arrived, he told me he had looked at my call report, and he intimated it could take all day to repair the furnace. I couldn’t remember telling the service manager there were a lot of problems, and I wondered what he was talking about. I called the HVAC company and after explaining who I was; I asked them what they had in their notes that would make the technician think this was going to be a tough job. The service manager put me on hold for two minutes, and she sounded confused. She told me I had said I had a few minor issues, but nothing major. She had assumed it would be half an hour and the HVAC technician would be on his way. Five minutes later, I heard the HVAC tech’s phone ringing. After some quiet conversation, he came back upstairs and apologized. The service manager had given him the right name and address, but the notes attached were for his next furnace repair job, and not this one. I wished I had called my boss and told him it was going to be an all-day job. Twenty minutes later, the HVAC technician was gone, and I could have spent the entire day doing some much needed cleaning and relaxing.
