Man, it was hard to accept the fact that I simply had to move back in with my parents.
I’m 27 years old and living at home wasn’t at all appealing.
In fact, I did everything I could think of to stave of what would eventually become inevitable. But it turns out, that ended up being just where I needed to be. I remember telling myself that at least my folks had good residential HVAC. And after four years in my apartment with HVAC equipment that was older than I am, good air conditioning was a big plus. During the Summers, I would actually look for reasons to stay late inside the commercial HVAC of the office just so I didn’t have to go home. I knew that it was going to be too warm in my apartment. Plus, staying late at the office couldn’t hurt me as far as the bosses were concerned. But these days, even those bosses are no longer inside that commercial HVAC. I can’t believe that we got all the way through the worst of the pandemic only to have the company collapse last Summer. I tried to hang on with some part time work but taking my parents up on their offer just made good sense. Going home was tough initially and really hurt my pride. But my parents were so supportive and I then had the time to aggressively pursue my next career move. I was there enjoying the air conditioning through October. By November, the heat pump is pretty much quiet in my home region. By February, I had found a new position in the same field. It was even close to home as well. And I’m making more money so I guess everything worked out the way it was supposed to.
