I haven’t always been one to think out of the box. But if I was ever going to get out of my apartment, I had to accept getting creative. That’s just what happened as I joined a group and learned all about ductless heat pumps. The group I joined were some friends that were also so frustrated about not being able to ever come up with enough money for a downpayment on a house. They too were so tired of living in apartments that had crummy residential HVAC, no space and limited privacy. The only way we were going to make our homeownership dreams a reality was to do it together. We learned as much as we could about this concept of owning a house together. And we made sure to protect everyone’s interests by getting it all made legal by bringing in a lawyer. Once that was done, it was as though the perfect house dropped right in our lap. It’s a ranch style home but it kept being added onto. So there are three separate wings off the center of the house. The center of the house now houses a big kitchen and common area. And then we can retreat to our separate living quarters. We learned about ductless heat pumps from the HVAC contractor who came out to replace the central air conditioning. Since the ductwork was shot, we chose to go with the ductless heat pumps. And this has worked out just great as we all have independent heating and cooling control. I’m so thankful to be out of apartment life and actually building equity in this awesome mortgage situation I find myself in.
