Rattling pipes

He asked about the last time she had her system looked at, although she simply said she had never had anything done

My sister called me last monthvery frustrated because she thought someone was trying to get into her house. I asked her why she thought that. She said that she kept hearing a rattling noise followed by a loud thud in the basement. I was anxious because that did not sound like something that would be normal. She lives in an area of town that has a high crime rate so I felt she had reason to worry. My partner & I got in the car & headed right over to see if my friend and I could figure out what was happening; She said she did not want to involve the police if it was nothing because then if there actually was a problem they would not come, but when my friend and I arrived my partner headed down into the basement armed with a baseball bat to see if there was an intruder & found nothing. Well he was down there he did hear the rattling noise & the thud & realized it was coming from the boiler. He went upstairs to ask my sister about how often she heard the noise & she said entirely about every 30 minutes or so & then he informed her about where the noise was coming from. He asked about the last time she had her system looked at, although she simply said she had never had anything done. He told her there was entirely something wrong with it & that she should call an Heating, Ventilation & A/C business immediately which she did the following morning. When they investigated they found that there was so much air in the lines that each time the system turned on it rattled through the pipes & that was what was causing the noises.
