Ready for some heat after day outside; bad luck

When you live on a farm there is in neverending list of things to accomplish.

I have been living on a horse farm for the past several months now and when I was younger I consistently worked at stables.

I have many vivid memories of being outside in the middle of a brutally hot summer or a desperately cold winter. In particular, my recollections of having numb fingers and toes stick with me. I can tell you, when you are outside doing manual labor your body has very discrepant internal temperatures. For me, I find that my midsection gets extremely warm as though there is a powerful boiler system within my chest. However, my fingers and toes seem to be lacking any circulation from the powerful heating system. As such, I get simultaneously sweaty and cold all at once. The entire time, I am dreaming of coming back inside so I can sit in front of the fireplace or the furnace and finally thaw out. Unfortunately, I also have terrible luck, on top of a busy schedule. The last time I was outdoors for 8 hours working in difficult cold weather conditions, I wandered back into the house to find that the furnace had stopped working. Now, instead of relaxing in front of a warm heating implement I had to cold call central heating and cooling repair shops for an emergency service. By the time the heating and cooling technician arrived at my place to repair the furnace, I was warmer working again outside then waiting inside of my ice-cold house.
