Occasionally the most seemingly trivial mistakes can cause the most havoc. Everyone knows that they’re supposed to do basic automotive maintenance, although I was lax with my cars for years until the worst happened 1 day. I had not checked the level on the radiator fluid, windshield wiper fluid, nor the engine oil. My vehicle started heating up abruptly as I made my way down the stressed highway street. When I pulled over the car, my engine was smoking & nearly caught on fire. The incident essentially totaled my car. The worst area was that I had neglected to refill the radiator fluid & the radiator prevents the engine from overheating. I nearly did the same sort of destruction to my central cooling system in my house. Everyone told myself and others to update my cooling system filters at least once every 3 months. But I left a filter in for nearly a year & it was a wonder it didn’t fry the entire cooling system. I called my HVAC serviceman to inspect the system for destruction & somehow everything was good after the incident. I decided to beginning making a calendar on my iphone & kindle with all of my appointments charted out each month. Once I have a calendar, I can put the times for future cooling system filter swings on there. Whenever I get close to each subsequent filter change, my iphone notifies myself and others ahead of time with an alert & message on the screen. I hope with these current swings I will never forget to change my cooling system filter in the right frame of time ever again.
