This year it has been one thing after another. It seems as if the effects of the pandemic keep coming at us. Of course, just trying to do the right thing to slow the spread has caused plenty of change for our household. The kids are learning at home and my wife and I are both working from the air conditioned comfort of our new home office. That home office was only just recently a guest bedroom. So far, we are dealing with all the changes in the best way all of us know how. And that’s entirely all anyone can ask for. While it hasn’t been easy, all of us have persevered. It was the warmest office I have ever worked in. My wife and I converted the guest bedroom to serve as our dual office. All of us both wore nice tops in case one of us had to do video conferencing. Yet, we all had to wear shorts to deal with where we keep the temperature control in the summer. But hey, we’d rather pocket the savings from the a/c in the summer time than overcool the whole house during peak heating times. That meant we kept the a/c setting about 12 degrees cooler than the outside temps. Then we offset this by using fans during the day. We also made sure to keep the direct sunshine out so there was no ambient air heating either. Regardless, all of us got through it and we kept our utility bill very constant. Hopefully next summer will be back to an empty house where the temperatures can rise during the day. We sure are glad to have the extra dough that we certainly didn’t spend on the a/c this summer.
