Part of the issue is that we decided to get married while we were far too young. The two of us met in school and got engaged after numerous years of dating. By the time we earned our degrees, we had already tied the knot. It didn’t take especially long for us to begin drifting apart. I was able to see that I didn’t actually know myself when we met, and realized I had changed a good amount in just the past several years alone. Suddenly we no longer appreciated the same films, songs, food, indoor temperature settings, or even brightness level of the lights in our property. The two of us disagree on essentially every issue that comes our way. As much as I adore her, I realize that we would both be so much happier with other people. I started seeing a divorce lawyer who was able to guide me on how I should proceed from there. When I went to my spouse and told her that I wanted a divorce, she said that she had been thinking the same thing altogether. Even though we split amicably, we each got our own divorce attorney to represent us in court. The two of us both were thinking that was the best move to make for one another, especially since neither of us had gone through this before. My divorce lawyer informed me that the divorce should be finalized in a couple of weeks. It’s unfortunate that the courts have slowed during this pandemic for all lawyers regardless of what kind of practice they have.
