It was like a combination of a weird sound and the fact that the HVAC unit just didn’t want to cycle off.
I also had this feeling that something was up with the HVAC equipment and it wasn’t something good.
Since we retired down here, I learned a lot about HVAC Cooling. In fact, I finally understand just how a heat pump works. When we lived up north, the only HVAC component that I was interested in was the HVAC heating or the gas furnace. That’s because it was just so cold all the time. We had a great gas furnace for lots of years that kept us very warm inside our home. But the air conditioning just wasn’t a big deal at all. Central air conditioning came with the HVAC cooling in our home up North. But honestly, I just don’t know how much we relied upon it. Of course, that’s the complete opposite now since we’ve moved down south. So I got to learning a lot more about the physics and engineering involved with air conditioning. And with that new understanding, I guess I just got a lot more tuned in to the heat pump. So that morning, I heard something different with the HVAC unit. It’s hard to describe but it finally led me outside. The problem was my wife had thrown a tarp over the HVAC equipment in order to have it dry out. And apparently she just forgot about it. Fortunately I was able to catch it before that tarp choked out the residential HVAC in our house.
