Now, my mother is comfortable with the plan
My mother just turned 85 years old last year but she hasn’t slowed down much. She likes to go to lunch with friends. She attends neighborhood board meetings. She’s also active in local politics. She loves her yoga class on Sundays and she attends spin class on Tuesdays. She also manages to keep up with the cleaning and gardening on the house. But despite how spry she is, I worry about my mother living alone. That’s why I make it a point to stop in to visit her nearly every day. I regularly call her in the night before bed to make sure she’s safe. I had a fear that she’d fall down plus be unable to call for help. I didn’t want her to be scared or in pain and not be able to get any help. Someone might realize she is an elderly lady living alone, too. So after some research, I decided to have a security plan installed into her house and property. Although my mother really loves the system, it took some adjustment for her to get used to. For the first couple of months, she accidentally set off the alarm at least once per day! The monitoring supplier would call and I would have to give them the right code. But now we’ve managed to avoid having the police or the fire department come to my mother’s current home for no reason. Now, my mother is comfortable with the plan. She also feels much more secure because of it. She regularly knows if someone pulls into the driveway and she can even see who is knocking on her door without opening it. She is able to footage of every angle of her property through her iPad.
