A job is something you work to make money and pay your taxes.
A career is a job you are fully invested in, as a part of your life, and you base your future goals and dreams around it.
And then you have what is called the side hustle, a job you work besides your regular job for extra money. Oftentimes a side hustle is gigi related, meaning there is little to no paper trail and you just work “gigs’ ‘ much like how a musician might. Thanks to the quarantine I no longer have a job, but my side hustle is more valuable than ever. Some years ago I almost became an HVAC technician for a local company, but it just didn’t pan out. They hired me to work as an assistant to an HVAC tech, so I could get on the job training while I studied for the certification test. It turns out I did not pass the HVAC certification test, so the company fired me. I moved on with my life, but sometimes I would do some minor HVAC work for friends or family, and that is how it became my side hustle. Now that we are quarantined, most HVAC companies are just as locked down as everyone else and won’t fix anything. Suddenly my skill set with HVAC repairs, as limited as it may be, has become incredibly valuable and I’m getting calls every day! I know I’m not as skilled as a real HVAC tech but times are tough and I’m going to take advantage!
