It was pretty hilarious when my brother decided he was going to install a ductless mini split in his house.
He had a bunch of friends come over to help with the installation and he also invited me. I didn’t know the first thing about installing HVAC equipment, but I figured I’d be there for morale support. My brother seemed to be freaking out at first when he was reading through the directions. He started off by saying, “Some assembly required? We have to put this whole thing together!” Everybody laughed and said that was right. One of his buddies brought up YouTube and found an installation for this same model of ductless mini split. Suddenly, the instructions were a lot more clear because these guys were showing exactly what to do step-by-step. My brother said he knew there was a good reason why he invited that particular friend. We slowly made our way through the installation process, and it wasn’t too bad. I didn’t do much work myself but I was bringing people tools as they needed them. I didn’t even want to get involved much because I was afraid that I was going to break something. I didn’t even want to put the batteries in the thermostats because I might have dropped one of them. I would have been devastated if I messed something up with my brother’s new HVAC system. When it was all installed though, it was a great working HVAC system! One of these days, I might even have one installed at my place with my brother helping me out.
