When the HVAC professional came out to our home recently, he was telling us that the air quality seemed a little lacking.
He checked everything out with the HVAC system and came to find that the ductwork was clogged up rather badly.
He said we needed ductwork cleaning, but we also could use better air filters like HEPA filters. I said I wasn’t sure if I could afford such expensive air filters, but the HVAC professional said he would sell us a whole pack for 50% off their regular price. When I learned how much the cost was going to be, I figured it couldn’t hurt to try the HEPA filters at least to see how much we liked them. Well, the ductwork cleaning went off without a hitch and the HEPA filters helped way more than I thought they would. The air quality improved a great deal. I figured it was mostly because of the ductwork cleaning because they got a lot of junk and debris from out of the ductwork system. The HEPA filters though I learned pull 99.9% of contaminants from the air, and that’s nothing to scoff at. I figure so long as I continue using the HEPA filters, I shouldn’t even have much dirt built up in the ductwork system, but I will continue getting regular ductwork cleaning in the future. If I can continue to get the HEPA filters for a fair price, I wouldn’t mind using those moving forward. Of course, I’m going to have to look online to see if they have cheap HEPA filters, because I won’t always be able to get a discount through the local HVAC company.
