My mom and younger brother were coming over to stay for the holidays; We’d not seen each other for quite some time since the pandemic hit.
During such a stressful period, I had provided birth to a lovely baby boy.
Mom was so thrilled to see his and was literally counting the mornings before the trip. My younger brother kept calling myself and others with new stories of mom’s shopping sprees for the first grandchild. The morning finally came, and they flew over to stay with us for a month or so. My husband came to get them from the airport, and I was so cheerful to see them that I broke down. The whole situation overwhelmed mom because he was scared we’d never see each other again for some time. I’d developed complications when giving birth. Luckily, the infection passed, and I was all better. All of us enjoyed that light supper and went to bed after multiple stories. At around 2 am, loud banging noises woke myself and others up. It was coming from the AC. I woke up to find our husband and younger brother downstairs trying to figure out the issue with the a/c. Since none of us was a certified Heating and Air Conditioning expert, I proposed both of us shut off the central Heating and Air Conditioning and call a serviceman in the morning. Early the following morning, our husband called the A/C service tech to come by our home to check the noise source. One of the A/C fan blades had shaken loose and was getting blown all over the A/C unit. The A/C expert changed the fan and cleaned off the air filter before closing up the system and turning it back on.
