Voided the warranty

Going on the idea that an Heating and A/C warranty was pretty much like any sort of warranty was my first mistake.

  • No truly it was my 2nd mistake.

The first mistake was not realizing that I only had 90 days to register the warranty on my new Heating and A/C equipment. After that the Heating and A/C warranty was null. Thankfully for me, I have a wife who pays attention to the Heating and A/C company about what both of us need to do. So I got away with one there, however that streak wouldn’t continue. About a few years into having the Heating and A/C installed, I observed there was some dust or something around one spot on the gas furnace. This was observed because I thought the gas furnace was acting a bit odd. It seemed like it was running more than it should given the temperature outside. So when I saw that dirt streak I took off the panel to discover some sort of switch or something which looked dirty and burned out. My thought process said, update it. And that’s exactly what I did. However, I used a part from the hardware store and not a factory part. Had I read my Heating and A/C warranty, I would have known that myself and others easily working on the Heating and A/C and using non OEM parts would void the warranty. When the gas furnace ultimately broke down I had to spend money for some truly high-priced gas furnace repair because there was no more warranty on my gas furnace due to my actions. So do yourself a favor and make sure you learn and read every word in the warranty for your Heating and A/C equipment.
