It seems like we have commercials on television and in the paper all the time now for HVAC companies.
I never really noticed them before but for some reason this year they just seem to be in excess.
Each one is offering a different deal when it comes to tuning up your system or replacing it before the upcoming winter and they got me thinking about ours that is over 20 years old. I spoke to my husband and ask him if we should look into possibly replacing the boiler in the basement because I was sure that it was an inefficient way to heat after all these years. He decided to contact a local dealer and see what other options were available to us. When we had purchased the boiler all those years ago it was one of the most efficient ones on the market so I was hopeful that he was still a better choice because I didn’t want to spend the extra money on a new system. The salesman that came out to the house took a look at everything and in fact confirmed that our boiler was still working fine. He did suggest that we replaced part of the exhaust pipe because he noticed that head corroded and had small holes in it which could lead to carbon monoxide poisoning. I was glad that we had the system looked at and I was very glad that used the exhaust pipe when they did because that could have been disastrous. Systems like the one we have require little maintenance and are normally very efficient. It never hurts to have an assessment done of your home though to make sure that you are saving as much money as possible on your utility bills.
